ADBHUTA RASA

As we settle into Springtime, and the Earth awakens its sleepy winter's energy, how are you exploring the wonders of this season? Is it in the colors that are spraying themselves along the landscape, or the fragrances of the blooming earth? The sound of newborn life, like here in Key West with the baby chicks peeping, or the delight of playing in the softness of the Earth. This month we will be exploring Adbhuta Rasa, the essence of wonder.

Like the other nine Rasas, Adbhuta Rasa is an energy that exists in us, awaiting the opportunity to be explored, expressed or experienced.  The practice is to become aware of what inspires wonder, awe, excitement, and curiosity in us.  Take time to feed this beautiful energy and let it deepen its effects on us and allow it to spread its power.

Adbhuta Rasa is triggered by extraordinary events, such as magic shows, seeing a flying chariot, or witnessing a divine phenomenon.  It is recognizing the magic of any given moment, the delight of a momentary surprise or witnessing the extraordinary that broadens both our intellectual and spiritual knowing.  Wonder is the gift that transform our hearts and minds, allows us to see the world with new lenses and experience the moment with a richness that is expansive.

As we move through this month, consider how you can invite wonder into your daily routines. Perhaps it’s pausing to notice the intricate patterns on a leaf, or allowing yourself to marvel at the vastness of the sky. Every moment offers the potential for discovery, if we approach it with open curiosity and a sense of awe.

Let Adbhuta Rasa guide you to deepen your connection with the world around you. By savoring these experiences and letting them enrich your spirit, you cultivate a joyful appreciation for life’s mysteries, big and small.
