LOVE
This month we will be exploring LOVE, a word often thrown around and overused. We aren’t talking about love that is broadcast in fictional accounts of romance, family connections, objects and places. We are talking about LOVE that is pure unconditional Love. The unchanging state of being Love. Love at this level transcends the state of reason that limits us to the details, and we come to discover the state of Love that deals with the entirety. It is this kind of love that is forgiving, nurturing and supportive.
As we have been working our way through the states of power based on POWER VS FORCE by David R. Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D. we come to the level of 500, the state of LOVE. It is said that only about .4 percent of mankind attains this level of Love. The rest of us live in the realm of love that is conditional, extremely intense, set on an object and often dominated by possessiveness, control, and addiction. “I love you”, “I love this”, I love when you…” are all examples of love that are based in objective and conditional love. When this love becomes frustrated, when the object of our love doesn’t meet our needs, it can very easily turn to hate. Dr Hawkins shares that, “Hate stems from Pride, not Love.” Being aware of these moments of frustration will be our touchstone for awakening and making a shift.
Love at this level never fluctuates as it is not dependent on external factors. This Love is a state of being that emanates from the heart not the mind. Reason is a mindful state of being and is bypassed at this level, as Love gives us a capacity to instantaneously see the totality of a problem were Reason often gets us stuck in the quagmire of details.
Love is global, it takes no position as it vibrates in the wholeness of life leading us to understand inclusiveness. In this state of Love we are focused on the goodness of life. Now here is the magic of Love, when we are in Love as a state of being, Love dissolves negativity by using the power of empathy and understanding to recontextualize the negativity rather than attack or fight it. Now that is pure power.
While this elevated state of Love may seem unattainable or reserved for a select few, its presence is not entirely out of reach. It begins with a shift in awareness—a gentle turning inward, where we observe our intentions and responses with curiosity rather than judgment. By quietly noticing when our love becomes transactional or tangled with expectation, we cultivate a space where something greater can emerge. Day by day, as we choose compassion over criticism and seek connection over control, the heart opens further, making it possible to experience glimpses of the state of unconditional Love. These moments, though fleeting at first, have a profound ripple effect on our relationships and the world around us, revealing that pure Love, even in small doses, possesses a transformative power far beyond anything the mind could conceive.
As we begin to recognize these openings, we may notice that the more we release our grip on outcomes and relinquish the need to possess or control, the more naturally Love flows through us. This Love does not seek validation or acknowledgment; it is content to simply exist, illuminating both our joys and our wounds with the same gentle radiance. In this state, forgiveness arises effortlessly, not as a reluctant act, but as a natural extension of our expanded awareness.
With practice, our perception shifts. The boundaries between self and other blur, and empathy becomes not just an emotion, but a way of being. We find ourselves responding rather than reacting, seeing the shared humanity beneath the surface of every interaction. The trials and tribulations of daily life no longer threaten our sense of inner peace, for we have discovered a sanctuary within—a wellspring of Love that is inexhaustible, regardless of external circumstances.
Ultimately, the journey toward unconditional Love is less about striving or achieving, and more about letting go—allowing ourselves to be drawn upward by the quiet gravity of the heart. Each step, no matter how small, brings us closer to a world where Love is not a fleeting feeling, but the very ground upon which we stand.
